A Christmas thought...

I know it's way early to be throwing a Christmas tree up on my blog, but with the gas and food prices soaring among other things, I wanted to share what we did last year.

Our daughter Melissa came up with the idea for our whole family to draw names, each person would get two names.

One present would be a nice $50 limit present. The other present would be a gag $10 limit gift (can be free stuff too). So everyone would have their name in two piles, one for a good gift and one for a fun one.

To make the gag gift interesting and challenging, it should have something to do with what that person had done that year. Like me loosing weight and exercising, a gag present might be one of those Suzanne Sommers thigh master or some silly exercise equipment from a yard sale, or eBay. If they had a child that year...ear plugs and Calgon take me away bubble bath. Nothing mean or rude to make the person feel bad, just funny.

We still get the grand kids something extra, and I get each one of my six "kids" a sweater or sports pullover type gift.

Doing this really frees you up to enjoy the season and each other...takes the stress out. Jesus is the reason for the season! Blessings!

I think that's a great idea. We toned it down last year and now we will again this year..we like to just concentrate on being together and remembering that Jesus is the reason for the season. Hey, I have lost 7.5 pounds in two weeks....the walking really helps.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

What a neat idea! I really think as a country we have gotten out of hand with the huge amount of presents every year. I have a feeling this year will be very different. I pray it will be a time to grow closer to the Lord and our families. He is the reason for the season. This year has gone fast and I pray for all my bloggy friends to have a great fall and holiday time.
